The Morning Routine That Kate Middleton and Prince William Cherish With Their Kids
Prince William and Kate Middleton Prioritize Parenting Amid Royal Duties
As the future figures of the British monarchy, Prince William and Kate Middleton place significant emphasis on their roles as parents. The couple, known as the Prince and Princess of Wales, has three children: Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.
Former royal butler Grant Harrold shared insights with InStyle, highlighting that the school run is a daily commitment for William and Kate. Harrold emphasized that since joining the royal family, Kate made it clear that her family would always take precedence over royal obligations.
Over the past 15 years, William and Kate have remained dedicated to this principle, paying particular attention to the school run, despite their busy schedules and the assistance of a nanny. Their involvement in dropping off and picking up their children from school is a priority they steadfastly uphold.

Harrold noted that this commitment is rooted in their desire to maintain a sense of normalcy for their children. He stated, “They wouldn’t want to cause disruption for other parents or pupils,” further explaining that their partnership with Lambrook School facilitates a smooth school run.
The royal schedule typically begins at 10 a.m., allowing ample time for the couple to drop off their children in the mornings. Harrold remarked, “Both William and Kate like doing things for themselves,” illustrating their desire for a lifestyle that supports a more normal family dynamic with fewer staff members.
“They’re well aware that it brings some normality for George, Charlotte, and Louis,” Harrold added, stressing the importance of this routine in their children’s daily lives.

As William prepares for his future role as king, Harrold noted, “I also don’t think William wants the world to see his children being driven to school by a chauffeur.” This perspective reflects a conscious effort to project a relatable image for the monarchy.
Royal biographer Russell Myers, author of William and Catherine: The Monarchy’s New Era: The Inside Story, commented that the couple has made strides in balancing their family life with their public duties, a departure from traditional monarchy values.

This approach appears effective. A palace insider noted that William and Kate have actively “set out to achieve a sense of normality,” with another friend observing that “Those children look pretty happy with life.” This reflects a noteworthy shift in the royal family’s dynamics, allowing them to establish solid foundations for their children that previous generations may not have experienced.
