The Daily Show Celebrates Strong Ratings in 2025
The Daily Show returns tonight after a winter hiatus, buoyed by positive ratings momentum.
In 2025, the show, which airs on Comedy Central, achieved its highest ratings since 2020 among viewers aged 18 to 49, alongside its largest viewer share since 2015.
Hosted by Jon Stewart, along with Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Michael Kosta, Jordan Klepper, and Desi Lydic, the show reported a 16% increase in the 18-49 demographic, rising from an average rating of 0.366% to 0.423%, according to Nielsen ratings.
In terms of viewer share, the show experienced a 25% increase in the same demographic, climbing from 2.2 to 2.76.
On Monday nights, when Stewart takes the helm, the show emerged as the leading late-night cable program among viewers aged 18-34 and 18-49, with few competitors aside from Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live.
This uptrend aligns with the network’s announcement in June that The Daily Show had recorded its strongest quarterly share in the second quarter of 2025 since the third quarter of 2015.
The Daily Show also achieved record numbers in social media engagement, amassing 6.7 billion views, a 72% increase, while engagements rose 45% to 418.8 million and total viewing minutes increased 44% to 11.2 billion.
Stewart will host tonight’s episode, featuring an interview with Senator Mark Kelly, who is currently facing potential reductions in his retirement rank and military pension due to administrative actions initiated by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. This comes after Kelly’s remarks urging military personnel to resist illegal orders.
Chieng will take the reins for the rest of the week, welcoming guests that include No Other Choice director Park Chan-wook, Freakonomics’ Stephen J. Dubner, and actress Lucy Liu, who is promoting Rosemead.
