The Bear Concludes Its Journey with Season 5 on FX
The popular series The Bear is set to conclude, a decision foreshadowed during Season 4 when the character Carmy Berzatto, portrayed by Jeremy Allen White, announces his departure and relinquishes his stake in the restaurant.
This announcement, while anticipated, was inadvertently confirmed by Jamie Lee Curtis. In a recent Instagram post featuring herself with Abby Elliott, who plays Carmy’s sister, Natalie “Sugar” Berzatto, Curtis hinted at the series’ conclusion. “FINISHED STRONG! Surrounded by an extraordinary crew and group of writers and producers and scene partners on the show that Chris Storer created, completing the story of this extraordinary family that we have all fallen in love with. Got to finish it out with my baby Berzatto bear,” Curtis wrote.
Series creator Christopher Storer initially envisioned wrapping up The Bear after its fourth season. However, it was renewed for a fifth season in July, with plans for its premiere later this year.
The ensemble cast includes Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Matty Matheson, along with recurring appearances from Oliver Platt and Molly Gordon. Since its debut in 2022, the series has garnered significant acclaim, receiving the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2023, with White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, and Storer earning individual awards. In 2024, Colón-Zayas received the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, and Curtis won Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Donna Berzatto.
Produced by FX Productions, the series is executive produced by Storer, alongside Josh Senior, Joanna Calo, Cooper Wehde, Tyson Bidner, Matty Matheson, Hiro Murai, and Rene Gube.
