Teyana Taylor Shares Emotional Moment at the Golden Globes as She Celebrates Her ‘Party in the Back’ Crystal Thong
Teyana Taylor Wins Best Supporting Actress at 2026 Golden Globes
Teyana Taylor was awarded Best Supporting Actress for her role in One Battle After Another during the 2026 Golden Globes held on January 11. The star, 37, captivated the audience from the very start of her acceptance speech, humorously revealing the bedazzled thong at the back of her dress.
As she took the stage at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Taylor expressed her excitement and noted, "Wait, see my party in the back," after revealing her outfit. She admitted that she had almost not prepared a speech.
In her address, Taylor made sure to shout out to her children, who she said were "upstairs watching," playfully reminding them to "Y’all better be off those damn phones and watching me right now." She also extended her gratitude to her parents and her "tribe" of loved ones, whom she described as her "grounding force."
Taylor acknowledged the film’s director, Paul Thomas Anderson, stating, "To Paul ‘Let ‘Em Cook’ Thomas Anderson, thank you for your vision, your trust and your brilliance. My gratitude is endless. I love you, we love you, and thank you so much for holding space for me and our entire cast."
In a heartfelt moment, she addressed "my Brown sisters and little Brown girls watching tonight," emphasizing, "Our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space."
In One Battle After Another, Taylor portrays Perfidia Beverly Hills, a revolutionary mother who struggles with postpartum depression and grapples with leaving her family due to feelings of being "unheard, unseen, not beautiful and like a piece of meat." She articulated that such circumstances led her character to prioritize self-advocacy, stating, "But who are we to judge how she handles postpartum depression after being ignored?"
The other nominees in the Best Supporting Actress category included Emily Blunt for The Smashing Machine, Elle Fanning for Sentimental Value, Ariana Grande for Wicked: For Good, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas also for Sentimental Value, and Amy Madigan for Weapons.
The nominations highlighted a competitive year for outstanding performances by women in film, showcasing a range of compelling stories and characters.
