Taylour Paige Shares Her Joy Filming ‘I Love Boosters’ While Pregnant and Grateful for Boots Riley
Ahead of its world premiere as the opening-night film at the 40th SXSW festival, Taylour Paige expressed her excitement about collaborating with Boots Riley on the film I Love Boosters.
“Now we’re getting to the good stuff,” Paige remarked enthusiastically. “I love Boots so much, and I’m so excited about this film. It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before. It was so much fun to make.”
Paige shared that she was “four and five months pregnant” during filming, adding, “We laughed so much. It was long days, sometimes 16, 17-hour days. I was pregnant as hell, and I was having the time of my life.”
The sci-fi comedy features Paige alongside Keke Palmer and Naomi Ackie as a crew of professional shoplifters, or "boosters," who take aim at a ruthless fashion mogul. “It’s like community service,” she quipped.
While discussing the film’s deeper themes, Paige emphasized, “It’s funny, but it’s also got a very, very specific sociopolitical, economical—I mean, there’s so much commentary, but it’s fed to you in the most entertaining, fashionable, c*nty way. It’s just great. I haven’t seen it; I just know what it felt like, and I know Boots is just brilliant. Talk about a mind. We’re really lucky to be alive at the same time as Boots.”
I Love Boosters boasts a star-studded ensemble cast, including Palmer, Paige, Ackie, Poppy Liu, Eiza Gonzalez, LaKeith Stanfield, Don Cheadle, and Demi Moore.
