Taylor Momsen Revisits Her Iconic Cindy Lou Who Costume 25 Years After ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’
Taylor Momsen celebrated a nostalgic moment on social media this week by donning her original Cindy Lou Who costume from the classic film *How the Grinch Stole Christmas*, 25 years after its release.
The 32-year-old frontwoman of The Pretty Reckless shared a video on Instagram showcasing her wearing the beloved outfit from the 2000 holiday film. “Yes…that is my real Cindy costume from the Grinch movie 🥰 25 years later…it still (kind of) fits,” she captioned the post, expressing her delight in revisiting the holiday magic of her childhood.
During the fitting, stylist Lindsey Hartman assisted Momsen, who playfully admitted that the fitted costume’s sleeves barely fit over her toned biceps, prompting off-camera jokes about her muscular physique. “You’re too jacked,” someone quipped.
Momsen’s love for the *Grinch* character has evolved over the years, stemming from her experience of being bullied as a child after the film’s release. In a 2023 podcast conversation, she shared, “Every time I would start a new school or go somewhere else, I don’t even think the kids knew my name. I was just ‘Grinch girl.’”
As she has come to terms with her past, Momsen has embraced the festive spirit associated with her role as Cindy Lou Who. In October, she released a rock-version of “Where Are You Christmas?” with her band, further linking her musical career with her iconic childhood role.
Momsen appears to be fully enjoying this holiday season, compiling fond memories and a celebration of her cinematic past, which many continue to cherish during this festive time of year.
