Taylor Momsen Brings Back Her Iconic Cindy Lou Who Costume After 25 Years: ‘It Still Fits!’
Taylor Momsen Revives Iconic Cindy Lou Who Costume for Holiday Season
In a nostalgic throwback, Taylor Momsen showcased her iconic Cindy Lou Who costume from the 2000 film How the Grinch Stole Christmas during the holiday season. The 32-year-old actress shared her experience trying on the cherished outfit on Instagram on December 22.
With assistance, Momsen managed to fit into the dress, which featured a voluminous tulle skirt. Playfully commenting on her struggle to pull on the puffy sleeves, she said, “I’m a little jacked.” When her assistant suggested alterations for easier wear, Momsen replied, “Possibly,” before adjusting the dress to wear it unbuttoned and off-the-shoulder.
After preparing for the occasion, Momsen donned the full ensemble again, complete with a red cape embellished with a fuzzy white collar and pair of black combat boots.
“Yes…that is my real Cindy costume from the Grinch movie 🥰,” Momsen captioned her post. “25 years later…it still (kind of) fits 🤣 what a surreal holiday season #whereareyouchristmas.” Her followers expressed excitement in the comments, with sentiments such as “I love that you’re fully embracing this!” and “What a surreal full circle moment for you.”
This revival of her role as Cindy Lou Who isn’t the only connection to the character this year. In November, she released a new rendition of "Where Are You Christmas?" with her band, The Pretty Reckless. Reflecting on her time filming alongside Jim Carrey, Momsen remarked, “I think that people love The Grinch just simply because the core of the story is so sweet and it’s so heartwarming and it has such a good message.”
Recalling her experience with Carrey, 63, she described him as “so kind” and expressed admiration for his artistry at a young age. Momsen also noted that her first experiences with wigs, fake lashes, and faux teeth occurred during the film’s production.
Meanwhile, Carrey recently revealed the challenges of wearing his Grinch costume, describing it as a torturous experience that required extensive preparation.
Momsen’s heartfelt tribute to the season serves as a reminder of the enduring impact of her early role, captivating fans both old and new.
