- Tara Reid is speaking out after police closed an investigation into her claims that her drink was tampered with.
- Reid, who was hospitalized on November 23, alleged that she was drugged while at a hotel bar in the Chicago area.
- “That was the scariest feeling I have ever felt,” the actress previously told PEOPLE regarding her experience of waking up in a hospital.
Tara Reid has addressed the public following the conclusion of a police investigation into her allegation of being drugged.
A spokesperson for the Rosemont Police Department in Illinois confirmed that the case was closed as of December 11, citing “no other evidence” in light of previous findings that indicated no proof of drugging.
According to the spokesperson, law enforcement had contacted all relevant parties and determined that there was “nothing outstanding,” leading to the closure of the case.
“We don’t want to say what she’s claiming is false,” the spokesperson commented, acknowledging gaps in the surveillance footage. However, they stated that the evidence they gathered did not substantiate her claims of drugging: “That’s all we can do.”
In her statement shared with PEOPLE on December 17, Reid described the incident as “truly heartbreaking.” She expressed concern over public reactions, stating, “All of the bullying I have been subjected to and everyone twisting reality without the facts they weren’t even there to witness is truly affecting my mental health and I need it to stop.”

The Rosemont Public Safety Department stated on December 3 that surveillance footage from the hotel did not show evidence that Reid, 50, was drugged on November 23. That night, the American Pie actress was taken to a hospital on a stretcher following her stay at a Chicago-area hotel.
“Bottom line is no one ends up in the hospital incapacitated for over eight hours after a drink,” Reid asserted previously through her representative.
She recounted that the final memory she had was of “having one drink and waking up in the hospital the next day without remembering anything.”
In a statement to the Daily Mail, Reid noted that surveillance footage did not capture her time at the bar completely, with 33 minutes of footage unaccounted for.
She stated, “They are making it seem like I chugged all this wine at once and ended up on a stretcher, but after reviewing the footage, that is not what happened at all.” She added, “In fact, I witnessed in the footage when I arrived back from smoking with the person I only took one sip of wine in over 30 minutes…”
Reid also emphasized that she declined further drink offers when asked by the bartender, as she still had an untouched drink.
Despite the police concluding the investigation, Reid expressed disappointment regarding the lack of findings from her hospital tests and asserted, “I was never even given an IV.” She recalled reading in her medical records about her distressed state, stating, “I fell out of my hospital bed and they had to take me to get a CT scan. I do not remember any of this.”
She pointed out the emotional toll of being ridiculed online, stating, “To imagine how terrifying it would be as a woman having some wine and then waking up in the hospital with no clothes on in a gown after 12 hours not having any idea of what happened to me…”
Reid went on to ask for support and privacy as she seeks to heal, stating, “I need to heal. If you could watch the hour and 21 minutes of video you would understand something obviously wasn’t right. I truly hope my story can help save someone.”
