SZA, the acclaimed singer known for her song “Saturn,” stole the spotlight at the Met Gala with a striking appearance that embodied the sun.
Clad in a vibrant yellow gown and adorned with a jeweled floral headpiece, SZA collaborated with designer Emily Adams Bode Aujla of Bode for her look. The dress featured a corset, a structured skirt, and a flowing train in various shades of yellow. In an interview with red carpet host La La Anthony, SZA shared the intriguing backstory behind her gown.
“This entire look is made with reworked pieces purchased on eBay,” she noted. “This is like my ethereal body. This is how I see myself.”
Highlighting the significance of her attire, SZA described it as a representation of “the divine feminine,” pointing out the cowries, saris sourced from the secondhand marketplace, and real flowers in her hair.
“It just wanted to express joy,” she remarked.
During the interview, SZA humorously commented on her appearance, stating, “I was looking at how big my boobs look on this camera.” She further elaborated on her fearless approach to fashion.
“I just love a character and I love playing and I love attention,” SZA expressed while showcasing the crystals woven into her outfit. “I just love expressing our culture. And I just love celebrating all cultures.”
A feature in Vogue highlighted SZA’s sustainable approach, revealing that the fashion outlet and eBay partnered with Bode to create her ensemble.
