Sweet Magnolias Season 5 is Coming to Netflix: Get a Sneak Peek at Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen’s New York Adventure
The beloved trio from the popular Netflix series Sweet Magnolias is set for another season. Season 5 will premiere on June 11, marking a 16-month wait since Season 4’s release.
To accompany the announcement, Netflix unveiled a first-look image showcasing the main characters—Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott), and Helen (Heather Headley)—in Central Park, New York City. The show’s shift to a big-city backdrop aligns with the cliffhangers presented in the Season 4 finale, which saw Maddie landing a publishing job in New York.
Reflecting on the upcoming season, Swisher remarked, “Can anything end the Magnolias?! Our ladies have seen each other through bigger challenges than physical distance. When you love someone, you want what’s best for them and want to help them reach that goal. True friends celebrate each other in times of victory, embolden each other to seize their passion, and then link arms to figure out logistics.”
Billed by Netflix as a "comfort drama," Sweet Magnolias follows the lives of lifelong friends Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen as they navigate relationships, family, and careers in the quaint town of Serenity, South Carolina.
Executive production is led by showrunners Sherryl Woods and Dan Paulson of Daniel L. Paulson Productions, with Matt Drake also serving as an executive producer. Norman Buckley holds the position of co-executive producer.
