Supriya Ganesh Leaves ‘The Pitt’ as Dr. Mohan; Ayesha Harris Joins Season 3 as a Regular Cast Member
HBO Max’s The Pitt to Undergo Significant Cast Changes in Season 3
HBO Max’s acclaimed medical drama The Pitt is set for a new direction with the upcoming Season 3, premiering in 2027. Notably, Supriya Ganesh will not return as Dr. Samira Mohan, a role she has inhabited since the show’s inception. This development aligns with the character’s narrative arc in Season 2, where Dr. Mohan grappled with balancing her personal and professional lives while pondering her future in medicine. Throughout the season, she faced indecision regarding her medical specialty, including a suggestion from Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) to explore geriatrics. As her struggles became evident, it seemed apparent that Dr. Mohan would benefit from a break from the emergency room.
The series, which reflects the dynamics within a teaching hospital, has naturally seen a rotation of its cast. Tracy Ifeachor, who portrayed Dr. Heather Collins, departed after Season 1, with her storyline concluding early in Season 2. The character’s transition to Portland to work as an attending physician following her residency was confirmed, alongside her plans to adopt a child.
In another casting update, Ayesha Harris has been elevated to series regular for Season 3. Harris portrays Dr. Parker Ellis, a night shift resident, and has made appearances in two episodes of both Season 1 and Season 2.
Her career includes notable roles in the Prime Video miniseries Daisy Jones and the Six alongside Riley Keough, Sam Claflin, and Suki Waterhouse. Additionally, she featured in Netflix’s queer drama-comedy Glamorous in 2023, alongside Kim Cattrall and Miss Benny. Other television credits include This Is Us, L Word: Generation Q, Abbott Elementary, and Good Girls.
Variety was the first to report on these casting changes.
