Metro Board to Vote on Expanding K-Line to West Hollywood
The future of public transportation in Los Angeles could witness a significant shift as the Metro Board is set to vote Thursday on the proposed northern expansion of the K-line. This initiative aims to extend service to West Hollywood and several other neighborhoods.
Key to the proposal is the establishment of a new Metro station at the Hollywood Bowl. The decision, scheduled for 10:00 AM, will focus on the staff recommendation for a "locally preferred alternative," which is detailed in a provided map.
If approved, the expanded service would connect the South Bay, LAX, South LA, Inglewood, and the Crenshaw corridor to West Adams, Mid City, Central LA, West Hollywood, and Hollywood. According to LA Metro, funding for the project would become available in fiscal year 2041, with construction anticipated to conclude between 2047 and 2049.
Support for the expansion is strong among local leaders. Mayors from Inglewood and West Hollywood, along with LA County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, are expected to rally outside Metro headquarters in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday morning to urge the board to proceed with the proposal.
