Street Closures for the LA Marathon 2026: What You Need to Know
LOS ANGELES — Traffic disruptions are expected across the city this weekend as preparations continue for the 2026 ASICS Los Angeles Marathon, taking place on Sunday, March 8. The marathon route, dubbed "Stadium to the Stars," will see numerous street and freeway closures starting Saturday morning.
The event will allow tens of thousands of participants to run a 26.2-mile course from Dodger Stadium to Century City. The marathon officially kicks off at 7 a.m., with wheelchair and hand-cycle participants beginning their race at 6:30 a.m.
Runners will traverse various neighborhoods, including Echo Park, Silver Lake, Hollywood, and West Hollywood, before finishing at Santa Monica Boulevard and Avenue of the Stars in Century City. Major closures will impact significant thoroughfares, such as Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood Boulevard, and Santa Monica Boulevard.
Authorities expect most surface streets to reopen by early evening on Sunday, with freeway ramps along the 101, 110, and 405 likely cleared by 3 p.m.
In light of recent military escalations in the Middle East, security measures have also been heightened throughout the city, particularly in places of worship and community spaces.
Residents and visitors should plan their travel accordingly and may consider using public transportation to navigate around the impacted areas. Local Access points will be available for those who need to reach their homes between runner waves, assisted by LAPD officers.
