Stephen Dorff and Kevin Dillon to Star in ‘Red Stick Hoods’
Stephen Dorff and Kevin Dillon are set to headline Red Stick Hoods, a Southern crime thriller poised to launch its sales at the Cannes Film Festival with Iuvit Media Sales. The film plunges into the neon-lit underworld of Baton Rouge, where a seasoned criminal and his unpredictable young partner find their lives in turmoil as a routine job escalates into uncontrollable violence.
Directed and produced by Lance Kawas, known for Good Thief and Boneyard, production is scheduled to begin this fall. This marks the first original screenplay by crime novelist Victor Gischler, recognized for Fast Charlie. The project was packaged by Hicham Benkirane of HBK F.C., who will serve as executive producer alongside Ahmed Boomrod and Iuvit’s Max Czertok.
Kawas emphasized the film’s central theme, stating, “For me, Red Stick Hoods is ultimately about loyalty and the cost of breaking the rules in a world that doesn’t forgive mistakes. It’s a character-driven crime story built around a complicated relationship, and my goal is to bring that to life in a way that feels grounded, tense, and emotionally real.”
Czertok expressed enthusiasm about the project, noting, “At Iuvit, we’re excited to represent Red Stick Hoods, a tense, character-driven action thriller with clear international appeal.”
Dorff’s future projects include Lear Rex, where he stars alongside Al Pacino and Jessica Chastain, and Brad Furman’s People Not Places, featuring Shirley MacLaine. He is represented by Mosaic and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
Dillon recently appeared in Reagan alongside Dennis Quaid and is set to star in the upcoming thriller Complex, Texas. His representation includes Buchwald, Gallant Management, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
Iuvit’s Cannes lineup also features April X with Lilly Krug and Connor Storrie, Knight Fighter starring Daniel Stisen, Station Break with Billy Burke, and the sci-fi action films Screamers and Tug of War.
Gischler is represented by David Hale Smith Literary.
