Stephen Dillane, Anya Chalotra, Kyle Soller, Ian Hart, and Niamh Algar Cast in Upcoming Netflix ‘Luther’ Film
New Additions Join Cast of Next "Luther" Film Starring Idris Elba
Five prominent actors have joined the cast of the upcoming "Luther" film on Netflix, which includes Idris Elba, Ruth Wilson, and Dermot Crowley. The new cast members—Stephen Dillane, Anya Chalotra, Kyle Soller, Ian Hart, and Niamh Algar—bring a wealth of experience from various acclaimed projects.
Character specifics remain undisclosed, but the plot takes off following the events of "Luther: The Fallen Sun." DCI John Luther (played by Elba) is covertly summoned back into action as a new string of brutal and seemingly random murders unsettles London. As the investigation unfolds, Luther faces the danger that surrounds him, with threats emerging from all directions.
The "Luther" franchise, created by Neil Cross, began with a widely acclaimed BBC series that aired for five seasons from 2010 to 2019. Elba’s portrayal of the complex London detective earned him critical accolades, including a Critics’ Choice Television Award, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Netflix released "Luther: The Fallen Sun" in 2023, initially in limited theaters and then via streaming. Plans for another film were confirmed last fall, with franchise veteran Jamie Payne directing from a script by Cross. Producers include Chernin Entertainment, Cross, Elba, Gina Carter for 22Summers, and Tim Lewis.
Dillane, noted for his performances in "Darkest Hour" and "Game of Thrones," has recently appeared in "Kaos," "Alex Rider," and "The Outrun." He is represented by Independent Talent Group.
Chalotra, recognized for her role in "The Witcher," is repped by The Artists Partnership, CAA, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
Soller, familiar to audiences from "Andor," has also been featured in "Jay Kelly," "Death by Lightning," and will appear in the upcoming sixth season of Apple TV’s "Slow Horses." He is repped by B-Side Management and Gersh.
Hart, who has been seen in "The Mosquito Coast," "Shetland," and "Mr. Bates vs. The Post Office," is represented by Artist Rights Group and Avalon Television.
Algar, a two-time BAFTA nominee known for her role in "Raised by Wolves," has recent credits that include "The Iris Affair," "Playing Nice," and "Mary & George." She is represented by Independent Talent Group, UTA, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
