Spike Lee Pays Tribute to James Ransone: Remembering “My Dear Brother” After His Passing
Hollywood is in mourning following the tragic death of actor James Ransone, who passed away at the age of 46. Ransone, known for his memorable performances in IT Chapter Two and The Wire, reportedly died by suicide on Friday.
Renowned director Spike Lee, who worked with Ransone on Inside Man (2006) and Red Hook Summer (2012), expressed his sorrow in a heartfelt social media tribute. “Rest In Peace To My Dear Brother, MR. JAMES RANSONE,” he wrote on Instagram. “We Rocked Together On RED HOOK SUMMER And INSIDE MAN.”
Director Larry Clark also shared his condolences, posting a photo of Ransone from his 2002 film Ken Park along with the caption, “RIP.”
Actress Mya Taylor, who co-starred with Ransone in Sean Baker’s Tangerine (2015), shared her grief in a statement. “RIP James Ransone,” she wrote. “This hurt me so bad. Such a sweet and funny guy. He helped me deal with fame. He could light up a room with his smile and dimples. So funny and sweet and he will be missed. Love this man so much.”
Ransone was found dead by hanging in Los Angeles, with the county medical examiner’s report indicating it was an apparent suicide. He is survived by his wife, Jamie McPhee, and their son.
