Spencer Pratt’s AI Campaign Ads Create Excitement in the Los Angeles Mayor’s Race
Spencer Pratt’s AI-Generated Ads Create Buzz in Los Angeles Mayoral Race
LOS ANGELES – Former reality TV star Spencer Pratt is gaining traction in his bid for mayor of Los Angeles with a series of viral AI-generated political advertisements. These innovative ads have sparked considerable discussion online, particularly regarding their implications for the local political landscape.
Pratt’s campaign has intensified with the release of a new personal ad that addresses his motivations for running, including the impact of his home being lost in the recent Palisades fire. In this context, political strategist Matt Klink stated, "It literally gave him an opportunity to reinforce to voters why he’s running for mayor because the response that the city of LA provided was not working."
At 42 years old, Pratt is capitalizing on the digital sphere, generating significant online engagement through blunt videos that tackle pressing issues such as crime and homelessness in the city. Although his campaign did not produce the AI-generated clips, the ads he has reshared are catching the public’s attention.
The response from other candidates has been critical. A spokesperson for Mayor Karen Bass remarked, "Spencer is doing his best Trump impression, but it’s not going to work in LA." Nithya Raman’s campaign echoed these sentiments, asserting, "Hollywood jobs are being devastated by AI. Meanwhile, Spencer Pratt is using his platform to promote AI-generated content, amplifying the very technology replacing the workers he claims to care about."
Klink notes that while AI has been a presence in political advertising for some time, Pratt’s ads resonate due to the ongoing dissatisfaction among voters regarding the direction of Los Angeles. "Whether you support the mayor or the incumbent, or whether you support Nithya Raman or Spencer Pratt, I don’t think anybody is going to say that they’re happy with the trajectory that Los Angeles is on," he said.
However, concerns regarding voter deception via AI ads linger. Klink cautioned against the potential misuse of AI in politics, particularly with "deepfakes," which can mislead voters, though he does not classify Pratt’s ads in this category.
Ultimately, the effectiveness of Pratt’s viral ads in converting views into votes remains uncertain. Klink observed, "A lot of people say, ‘Oh, it’s a political ad. I’m just going to tune it out.’ But you start to watch these things, and they capture your attention. That’s the first step toward convincing someone why they should vote for you."
As the campaign continues, it remains to be seen how these developments will influence voter sentiment in the upcoming election.
