Thursday’s High School Volleyball Playoff Results
Volleyball teams across various divisions showcased their skills in a thrilling round of playoff matches on Thursday.
In Division 4, Chino Hills triumphed over Long Beach Poly in a tightly contested match, winning 27-25, 25-18, 21-25, 16-25, and 15-10. Temple City, meanwhile, dominated Warren, securing a straight-set victory at 25-17, 25-11, and 25-12. Royal also made its mark by defeating Liberty with scores of 25-17, 25-23, and 25-13. Sunny Hills claimed victory against St. Monica, winning 25-16, 25-17, and 25-21. Northwood and Crossroads both won decisively with 3-0 sweeps over Elsinore and Los Altos, respectively. San Marino’s match against Harvard-Westlake went the distance, resulting in a 25-16, 21-25, 25-20, 15-25, 15-13 finish.
In Division 6, Temecula Valley overcame St. Francis with a score of 25-17, 25-20, and 25-23, while Beverly Hills secured a 3-0 win against San Gabriel. Culver City faced a grueling five-set match against El Modena, ultimately winning 18-25, 25-21, 25-16, 21-25, and 15-10. Firebaugh edged past Samueli Academy in another nail-biter, winning 3-2. Garden Grove, Capistrano Valley Christian, and Santa Ana Calvary Chapel all achieved commanding 3-0 wins against their opponents Ayala, Moorpark, and Cerritos, respectively. Pasadena Poly narrowly defeated Yucaipa, with scores of 24-26, 25-15, 25-19, 23-25, and 15-6.
In Division 8, Temescal Canyon, Santa Rosa Academy, and CAMS all secured 3-0 victories against West Covina, Paramount, and Miller, respectively. Other notable matches included Eastside defeating Cathedral City 3-1 and Burbank Providence edging out Temecula Prep 3-1. West Valley overcame Laguna Blanca in a close 3-2 match, while Palmdale Aerospace Academy and Glendale Adventist also claimed victories against Garey and Desert Hot Springs.
Looking Ahead:
A packed schedule awaits on Friday evening, featuring second-round matches across multiple divisions. In Division 3, Palos Verdes will face Sage Hill, and Claremont will take on Valencia. Other matches include Santa Ana Foothill visiting Mission Viejo and Saugus competing against Windward. In Division 4, Village Christian is set to battle Bolsa Grande.
In Division 5, teams such as Dos Pueblos, Oak Park, and Westminster La Quinta are gearing up for their respective games. Meanwhile, Division 7 will see Pasadena Marshall meet Rialto and Oakwood face Long Beach Jordan at Long Beach Cabrillo.
Divisions 1 & 2 will conduct their quarterfinals on May 5, while Divisions 3-9 will follow suit on May 6. Semifinals for all divisions are scheduled for May 9, culminating in finals on May 15-16.
