Sophie Turner from ‘Tomb Raider’ Injured, Leading to a Production Break in Amazon Series
Filming of Amazon’s *Tomb Raider* Series Paused Due to Injury
Filming has been temporarily halted on Amazon MGM Studios’ anticipated series Tomb Raider, created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, following an unspecified injury involving actress Sophie Turner.
Sources indicate that it remains unclear whether Turner sustained the injury on set. The production shutdown is expected to last for two weeks, during which the crew will continue to receive pay.
Amazon MGM Studios, which produces Tomb Raider for Prime Video in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics, announced the start of production on January 15, unveiling a first-look image of Turner portraying the iconic character Lara Croft. Principal filming is taking place primarily in the UK.
- Tomb Raider is an adaptation of the beloved video game franchise centering on the adventures of archaeologist Lara Croft. The series features a prominent cast, including Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein.
Waller-Bridge serves as creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner alongside Chad Hodge. Jonathan Van Tulleken is on board as director and executive producer. Additional executive producers include Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins through Wells Street Films, Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson via Story Kitchen, along with Michael Scheel and Legendary Television. Matt McInnis and Jan R. Martin also contribute as a co-executive producer and producer, respectively.
