Soho House Celebrates 15 Years in Los Angeles with Fresh Updates and New Offerings
Soho House West Hollywood Unveils Revamped Garden Menu and Celebrates 15 Years in L.A.
West Hollywood, CA — Soho House West Hollywood has marked its 15th anniversary with a refreshed garden menu curated by renowned chef Nancy Silverton. This milestone highlights the establishment’s evolution as a premier gathering space for creatives in the heart of Los Angeles.
In 2009, Samantha Stone was working in publicity for Paramount Pictures when she received a pivotal call from a friend at CAA about Soho House’s impending opening in L.A. Initially hesitant, she met founder Nick Jones, who began the Soho House brand in London in 1995. The meeting ignited Stone’s passion for the unique concept of a members-only club that offers dining, relaxation, and networking opportunities.
Reflecting on the early days, Stone noted the challenge of introducing the members’ club concept to a city where it was largely unfamiliar. “At the time, unless you’d seen the Sex and the City episode filmed poolside at the New York house or had been to a London house, you hadn’t really known what it was,” she explained.
Stone started as the membership manager in January 2010 and has since ascended to chief experience officer. “I remember having to convince people of who we were,” she said. “Now, private members clubs are part of everyone’s conversation."
Soho House was carefully chosen for its West Hollywood location, originally eyeing the former Morton’s space on Melrose before discovering the expansive views from the 9200 Sunset building. Designed by architect Charles Luckman, the structure had previously housed various entertainment companies. “It felt very much in the center of where everything is,” Stone said, emphasizing the importance of its centrality and the breathtaking vistas it provides.
The venue’s interior blends old Hollywood flair with the charm of an English gentleman’s club, offering a cozy atmosphere where members can unwind and connect. “When we opened, spaces for restaurants were very commercial,” Stone noted. “Then, when we opened Soho House, people would come in and sit on these beautiful vintage pieces and cozy seating and feel like they’re in their own living room.”
Since its opening in March 2010, Soho House has attracted prominent figures, with a no-photo policy ensuring privacy. Stone recalled memorable events, including performances by Prince and James Corden, which contributed to the club’s exclusive allure.
Soho House West Hollywood has continually adapted to member needs, now accommodating remote workers through designated spaces. To celebrate its anniversary, the venue underwent a gradual renovation, unveiling changes that reflect both modernity and its original charm.
“This is now a place that accommodates everyone’s needs,” said Stone. The updates include brighter décor and enhanced seating arrangements. The garden, a hallmark of the West Hollywood location, features new greenery and improved seating.
Silverton’s garden menu debuted on October 20, featuring Italian culinary staples such as grilled branzino and squash blossom pizza. "She’s an L.A. staple… more of an L.A. goddess!” Stone remarked.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, Soho House West Hollywood has planned a series of special events, including performances by notable artists like Jeff Goldblum, while highlighting the significance of its founding members.
Stone noted that while new private members clubs have emerged in L.A., Soho House remains a pioneering force, expanding not just in Los Angeles but globally. “What’s exciting is that we’re always evolving and adding new houses in key cities,” she concluded, underscoring the brand’s commitment to fostering a creative community.
With a continued focus on enhancing members’ experiences, Soho House remains dedicated to providing a cohesive home for creatives, ensuring its relevance in a fast-changing landscape.
