Sofia Mattsson Starts a New Chapter in ‘Days of Our Lives’ After Leaving ‘General Hospital’
Salem is set to welcome a new resident, former General Hospital actress Sofia Mattsson.
Mattsson will transition to NBC’s Days of our Lives, as announced in a joint Instagram post from the soap opera.
In the post, the official series account excitedly shared, “Sofia Mattsson is making her way to Salem early next year! 💙⏳,” alongside a photo of the actress outside her dressing room.
Mattsson’s departure from General Hospital last summer marked the end of her role as Sasha Gilmore Corbin, a character she first portrayed in 2018. In her exit episode, Sasha and her baby Daisy depart Port Charles safely, thanks to Steve Burton’s character, Jason Morgan, as she returns to her parents in Paris.
A representative for General Hospital confirmed that her exit was a strategic narrative decision to allow Mattsson to explore other opportunities in film and television.
Despite her transition, Mattsson has expressed openness to returning to daytime television, mentioning she has “some exciting new projects in the works” and hopes to connect with fans soon.
Mattsson is slated to make her debut on Days of our Lives in 2027, although her character details remain undisclosed. She will join a talented ensemble led by Deidre Hall.
