Shooting Incident on the 105 Freeway in Los Angeles County
Investigation Underway in Shooting on 105 Freeway in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. — A man is in critical condition following a shooting on the eastbound 105 Freeway near Harbor Gateway. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, which appears to be a car-to-car shooting.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) received reports of a stalled vehicle around 1:40 p.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive man slumped over the steering wheel of a black Toyota Camry. Paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded promptly, transporting him to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition.
CHP officials confirmed that the man had sustained a gunshot wound. Additionally, the rear window on the right side of the vehicle appeared to have been shattered. As of April 16, no description of the gunman has been provided, nor is there any known motive for the attack.
In response to the investigation, three of the far-left lanes on the eastbound side of the 105 Freeway were closed just west of Vermont Avenue. This resulted in significant traffic delays, with backups extending toward the San Diego (405) Freeway.
The Southern Diversion Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation. Authorities are encouraging anyone with relevant information about the shooting to reach out to the Los Angeles Communications Center at 323-259-3200 or CHP Detective Chambers at 323-644-9550.
