Sherman Oaks Notre Dame’s Lachlan Clark Picks Up a Shutout Win Against Top-Ranked Norco
Lachlan Clark Shines in Notre Dame’s Victory Against Norco
In a standout performance, Lachlan Clark, a senior backup pitcher for Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, led his team to a 4-0 win over top-ranked Norco on Friday. Demonstrating his determination, Clark shared a nostalgic video from his Little League days with a confident message: “Bring it on.”
Clark’s impressive outing included a four-hit shutout, where he tallied seven strikeouts without issuing a walk. His performance propelled the Knights into the Southern Section Division 1 baseball quarterfinals, as they finished Pool A with a 2-0 record. Norco, on the other hand, faces elimination if they do not secure a victory against Ayala on Tuesday.
"I’ve been waiting for my moment," Clark said after the game. Recently committed to Long Beach State, he showcased his abilities after stepping up as the No. 2 pitcher due to an injury to teammate Beckett Berg. Previously, Clark made an impact in the National Classic, pitching 6⅔ innings against De La Salle and striking out 10 batters.
Supporting Clark, catcher Jacob Madrid contributed significantly with his 12th home run of the season. Following the game, Clark and ten teammates celebrated their victory at grad night at Magic Mountain, enhancing the team’s morale.
In other quarterfinal matchups, St. John Bosco edged out Sierra Canyon 4-3, with a key passed ball breaking a tie in the sixth inning. Noah Everly shone with two RBIs, and Troy Sibolboro delivered 3⅔ innings of scoreless relief. Sierra Canyon will enter an elimination game against Cypress on Tuesday.
La Mirada triumphed over Temecula Valley 9-2, with Ian Aguayo hitting a two-run home run during a dominant sixth inning. Meanwhile, Cypress claimed an 8-2 victory against Oaks Christian, led by Noah Johnson’s three hits, setting the stage for their matchup with Sierra Canyon.
Harvard-Westlake secured a narrow 6-5 victory against Huntington Beach, with Jake Chung successfully handling a bases-loaded situation in the sixth. James Tronstein further impressed by hitting his 10th home run, concluding the match with three hits.
Other notable results included Orange Lutheran overcoming Corona 9-6, with Brady Murrietta hitting three home runs, and Ayala defeating Maranatha 7-6, thanks to a crucial single by Jonah Boyd in the seventh inning.
As the playoffs progress, the stakes heighten, with teams striving for a shot at the coveted championship title.
