Seventeen’s DK and Seungkwan Offer a Sneak Peek Behind the Scenes of Their ‘Blue’ Music Video
K-Pop Stars DK and Seungkwan Share Insights on New Music Video
Seventeen members DK and Seungkwan have recently unveiled their first mini-album as the subunit DxS, titled Serenade. In an exclusive feature, the duo shared behind-the-scenes glimpses and personal anecdotes from the filming of their music video for the single "Blue (Epilogue Ver.)".
The typically vibrant personalities of DK and Seungkwan took a reflective turn as they embraced the emotional depth of their new track. "It was a bit difficult to portray a character different from my usual self," DK, 28, explained. Known for his playful antics with his fellow bandmates—S.Coups, Jeonghan, Vernon, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Mingyu, Seungkwan, and Dino—he admitted that exploring a more serious side was both challenging and rewarding.
The filming of "Blue" offered DK the chance to exhibit a different facet of his artistry. "But filming became a fun and meaningful experience since I got to show a new side of myself," he added.
Seungkwan, also 28, echoed DK’s sentiments, reflecting on the emotional layers involved in their performance. "I wanted to convey a subtle yet deep emotional arc through this music video," he remarked. Although initially hesitant about adopting a more solemn demeanor, he found the challenge enriching.
The music video was shot in a snowy landscape that visually complements the song’s themes of love and emotional distance. Seungkwan noted, "While filming, there were moments when the meaning behind the lyrics sank in even more. Walking along the same road while our gazes passed by, or being left alone in a quiet space, I could really feel the inevitable distance that can exist even in love."
Despite the serious subject matter, the duo’s longstanding friendship led to light-hearted moments during filming. "There was a scene where we had to look toward the same spot across from each other," Seungkwan recalled, sharing a laugh about their struggle to maintain composure.
Both artists found solace in the outdoor, wintry setting, noting it was a refreshing break from their rigorous tour schedule. “Recently, we haven’t really had a chance to be in nature because our tour has been quite busy, so the shoot day felt especially healing,” Seungkwan said.
DK added that the picturesque scenery amplified their focus on the song. "Hearing ‘Blue’ play through the speakers against that backdrop naturally helped me focus more deeply on the song and its lyrics," he explained.
As Seventeen continues its "New_" world tour, which included nine U.S. shows last year and is set to conclude in Seoul this April, fans can look forward to experiencing more from the duo with the release of Serenade and the single "Blue".
