SCL Awards 2026: Nominations for ‘Sinners’, ‘Wicked: For Good’, ‘Frankenstein’, and More
The Society of Composers & Lyricists has announced the nominees for its seventh annual SCL Awards, set to take place in February. Leading the contenders for the Outstanding Original Score for a Studio Film category are Ludwig Göransson for Sinners, Alexandre Desplat for Frankenstein, Jonny Greenwood for One Battle After Another, Stephen Schwartz & John Powell for Wicked: For Good, Max Richter for Hamnet, and Jerskin Fendrix for Bugonia.
In the Outstanding Original Score for an Independent Film category, the nominees include Dara Taylor for Straw, Bryce Dessner for Train Dreams, David Fleming for Eternity, Fabrizio Mancinelli for Out of the Nest, Jónsi & Alex Somers for Rental Family, and Sara Barone & Robert Christenson for To Kill a Wolf.
The nominations for Outstanding Original Song feature several prominent artists. Diane Warren is recognized for “Dear Me” from Diane Warren: Relentless. Other nominees include Raphael Saadiq & Ludwig Göransson for “I Lied To You” from Sinners, Sara Bareilles for “Salt Then Sour Then Sweet” from Come See Me in the Good Light, and Ed Sheeran, Blake Slatkin & John Mayer for “Drive” from F1. Additionally, EJAE & Mark Sonnenblick are nominated for the hit single “Golden” from Kpop Demon Hunters.
Cristobal Tapia De Veer from The White Lotus and Dave Porter from Pluribus stand out with double nominations this year. Other television nominees include composers from notable shows such as Severance, The Studio, Andor, All Her Fault, and The Last of Us.
Winners will be announced at the SCL Awards ceremony on February 6, held at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. The event will be hosted by Kevin and Michael Bacon and will feature a performance by Grammy-winning artist Melissa Manchester. Göransson and director Ryan Coogler, known for their collaborations on Sinners, Black Panther, and Creed, will receive the SCL’s Spirit of Collaboration Award.
