Saugus Cafe in Santa Clarita Returns with New Ownership
Saugus Cafe Reopens Under New Management in Santa Clarita
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The historic Saugus Cafe, the oldest restaurant in Los Angeles County, reopened its doors on Monday, January 19, after a brief two-week closure. Now operating under the new name "The Saugus Restaurant," the establishment has retained its longtime staff and signature menu, ensuring continuity for loyal customers.
The reopening comes after a series of negotiations between the previous owner, the new management, and the landlord. Despite the rebranding, many regular patrons were promptly notified via social media and showed up to support the cafe on its first day back in operation.
Established in 1886, the Saugus Cafe holds a significant place in local history, having served a variety of Hollywood icons, including Frank Sinatra and Clark Gable, over its 140-year legacy. New management has emphasized their commitment to preserving the essence of the diner, maintaining the familiar menu and bringing back several veteran staff members who have dedicated decades to the establishment.
The reopening drew considerable attention, with eager customers forming long lines as they returned to their beloved breakfast spot. Diners expressed relief at the revival of what they consider a neighborhood "old friend," offering a sense of community and connectedness. Despite some changes in decor during the transition, the overall atmosphere remained welcoming, allowing the community to reclaim its favorite dining destination.
