This past Saturday, a series of high school basketball games showcased competitive matchups across various divisions.
In the City Section boys’ competitions, Collins Family triumphed over Aspire Ollin with a score of 65-33, while LA Marshall secured a close victory against LA Hamilton, finishing 61-53. Other notable results included Arcadia defeating Hoover 80-41 and a narrow win for Crespi against Harvard-Westlake, concluding at 57-52.
In the Southern Section, several teams shone brightly, with San Gabriel Academy dominating Murrieta Valley 99-52 and Malibu edging out Calabasas 66-58. Loyola emerged victorious against St. Francis, holding off a late challenge to win 60-57. Not to be overlooked, Thousand Oaks edged Santa Paula 68-62 in a thrilling contest.
The intersectional games also brought excitement, particularly as Burbank overwhelmed Valor Academy 87-39 and Sylmar put up an impressive 95 points to defeat St. Bonaventure 73.
Shifting focus to the girls’ games in the City Section, Aspire Ollin claimed a strong victory over Collins Family, winning 52-27. The Southern Section saw Avalon defeat First Baptist decisively, 48-18, while Bishop Amat enjoyed a commanding win against Ramona Convent, ending the game at 73-13.
Crescenta Valley was particularly dominant, outscoring Pasadena 84-22, and Redondo Union also showcased their strength, defeating Rolling Hills Prep 81-57.
In the intersectional rounds, Campbell Hall topped Palisades 50-40, while El Camino Real narrowly edged out Calabasas with a score of 59-56.
