Santa Margarita Celebrates Open Division State Football Championship Under First-Year Coach Carson Palmer
Carson Palmer Leads Santa Margarita to State Championship in Coaching Debut
Former Heisman Trophy winner Carson Palmer achieved a significant milestone in his inaugural season as head coach of Santa Margarita High School, guiding the team to a state championship.
The Eagles showcased a dominant performance in the CIF Open Division final, overwhelming De La Salle with a score of 47-13. A standout player in the victory was receiver Trent Mosley, who delivered an impressive show with 11 receptions for 183 yards, further emphasizing his commitment to the program as he prepares to join USC.
Despite limited coaching experience, Palmer successfully assembled an all-star staff, contributing to the development of a formidable defense that effectively neutralized their regional competitors throughout the season. This victory marks a promising start to Palmer’s coaching career, setting high expectations for future seasons.
