Sam Reid’s “Immortal Rockstar” Takes the Stage in The Vampire Lestat Trailer with a Billy Idol Classic
AMC Unveils Trailer for The Vampire Lestat, Featuring Sam Reid as the Legendary Lestat De Lioncourt
AMC has released the first trailer for The Vampire Lestat, showcasing Sam Reid in the role of Lestat De Lioncourt performing Billy Idol’s iconic song “Dancing with Myself.” The trailer provides a glimpse into a new chapter in Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe, where Lestat embarks on an electrifying tour as the first immortal rock star, confronted by muses from his tumultuous past.
The narrative follows Lestat’s journey as his band’s fame ascends, elevating his influence over both vampires and humans. However, this power also ignites challenges amid the Great Conversion, a mysterious rise in the vampire population.
The trailer opens with a voiceover reflecting on Lestat’s extensive 265-year existence: “You’ve been alive and undead for 265 years. You witnessed the French Revolution, the electric light, the atomic bomb.” Lestat himself then declares, “I am The Vampire Lestat. It’s my era. I’m a rockstar now.”
Alongside Reid, the series also stars Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Delainey Hayles, and Jennifer Ehle. Executive producers include Mark Johnson, showrunner Rolin Jones, and Hannah Moscovitch, as well as Christopher Rice and the late Anne Rice.
Technically considered the third season of Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat has been rebranded in honor of the novel that inspires this installment.
Recently, AMC Global Media and Lakeshore Records released Lestat’s first two official rock singles, “Long Face” and “All Fall Down.” The songs, composed by Daniel Hart and performed by Reid, will feature prominently in the series, with additional tracks expected to debut in the coming months.
The Vampire Lestat is set to premiere on Sunday, June 7, at 9 PM ET/PT on AMC and AMC+.
