Sally Hawkins, Victor Garber, and Others Join Cast of Live-Action Adaptation of Eloise
Sally Hawkins, David Haig, Victor Garber, Max Casella, and Isaac Bae are set to star alongside Ryan Reynolds and newcomer Mae Schenk in an upcoming live-action adaptation of Eloise. Netflix has recently signed on to distribute the film, which will be directed by Amy Sherman-Palladino, who co-wrote the script with Hannah Marks and Linda Woolverton.
Reynolds will produce the film through his Maximum Effort banner, working alongside George Dewey, Ashley Fox, and Johnny Pariseau. Woolverton will also serve as a producer, with Molly Milstein and Sophia Travaglia as executive producers for Maximum Effort.
Details regarding the plot remain under wraps, but the family-friendly film promises to deliver an original adventure inspired by the beloved children’s book series by Kay Thompson, illustrated by Hilary Knight. Schenk will portray the iconic character, while Reynolds will take on the role of a new original villain.
MRC, an independent film and TV studio, acquired the rights to Eloise in 2019 and is managing the film’s production. Handmade Films will collaborate with MRC on this project.
MRC will also partner with the Thompson estate, illustrator Knight, and Simon & Schuster, the series’ publisher, to ensure an authentic representation of the source material.
In the cast, Garber is represented by Amplified, Paradigm, and Oscar Abrams; Bae by The Osbrink Agency, McLain Entertainment, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher; and Casella by Ellipsis Entertainment Group and Innovative Artists.
