Ryan Reynolds’ New Buddy Comedy ‘Mayday’ from Apple Arrives This September
Apple Original Films has announced that its upcoming action-buddy-comedy, Mayday, starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh, is slated for release on September 4 on Apple TV. The release date was revealed during the studio’s press day, where a first look image was also shared. The cast includes Marcin Dorocinski, Maria Bakalova, and David Morse.
The plot centers on Lieutenant Troy “Assassin” Kelly, portrayed by Reynolds, a skilled U.S. Navy pilot on a top-secret mission in Russian territory during the Cold War. As the operation goes awry, he finds himself stranded behind enemy lines. Troy’s fate takes an unexpected turn when he encounters Nikolai Ustinov, played by Branagh, a gruff ex-KGB agent with a fascination for American culture. The two men must form an unlikely alliance that could lead to Troy’s rescue, as well as an unforeseen friendship.
Mayday is an Apple Original Film produced in collaboration with Skydance Media. The film will be written, directed, and produced by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger serving as producers for Skydance.
