Rob and Michele Reiner’s Children Announce Future Memorial Service for Their Parents

In the wake of their parents’ deaths, Jake and Romy Reiner have voiced appreciation for the overwhelming love and support they have encountered. A statement from their spokesperson, released on December 22, reflected their gratitude and announced plans for a memorial service, details of which will be shared later. An informal gathering of friends was previously held at actor Albert Brooks’ home.
Rob Reiner, age 78, and Michele Reiner, age 70, were discovered deceased in their Los Angeles residence on December 14. Following the tragic event, their son Nick, 32, was arrested and has since been charged with two counts of murder. Reports have indicated that Nick was undergoing treatment for schizophrenia leading up to the incident.

Rob and Michele Reiner are survived by three children: Jake, 34; Nick, 32; and Romy, 27. Rob also has a daughter, Tracy, from his previous marriage to actress Penny Marshall. The family’s statement announcing their deaths expressed profound sorrow, requesting privacy during this difficult time.
In their statement released on December 17, Jake and Romy described their grief, saying, "Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents… is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends."
They also expressed gratitude for the widespread condolences and emphasized a desire for respect and privacy moving forward.
Rob and Michele were married for 34 years, having met during the production of “When Harry Met Sally…,” which was released in 1989.
Nick Reiner has previously spoken about his battles with addiction dating back to his teenage years. He appeared in court on December 17, where his attorney, Alan Jackson, did not enter a plea on his behalf. Nick’s arraignment is scheduled to continue on January 7.

Romy Reiner is following in her family’s footsteps, making her on-screen debut in the 2020 film Voices. She has since appeared in several productions, including You People and Things Like This, which was executive produced by her brother Jake. Additionally, Romy featured in a 2021 episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, a show on which her father Rob guest-starred in 2001.
