Remembering Guy Moon: Emmy-Nominated Composer of ‘Fairly OddParents’ Passes Away at 63
Guy Moon, a four-time Emmy-nominated composer renowned for his work on Nickelodeon’s beloved animated series The Fairly OddParents, has passed away at the age of 63.
According to reports from his family and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Moon died Thursday morning in an accidental traffic collision, resulting in traumatic injuries.
In a poignant statement shared on Facebook, his family expressed, “We are overcome with grief to announce the passing of our beloved patriarch, Guy Moon. We feel singularly blessed to have been able to call him dad and husband. As we stand together at the base of what seems to be an insurmountable grief, we are emboldened to grieve him with honor and courage with the tools that he equipped us with in his beautiful life. He has left an unmistakable legacy and will be profoundly missed by us, his family, and countless others whose lives he impacted.”
Moon was lauded for his work as a composer on other series created by Butch Hartman, including Danny Phantom, where he crafted its memorable theme, and T.U.F.F. Puppy. He also contributed music for shows like Big Time Rush, Netflix’s Johnny Test reboot, Back at the Barnyard, Cow and Chicken, and The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.
Beyond television, Moon composed scores for several films, including the 2017 drama The Crash, starring John Leguizamo, Minnie Driver, and AnnaSophia Robb, as well as The Brady Bunch Movie, A Very Brady Sequel, and three live-action adaptations of Fairly OddParents featuring Drake Bell and Danielle Monet. He also contributed to the soundtracks of notable films such as Minority Report, Fight Club, and Mystic Pizza.
His family plans to celebrate his life with an event tentatively scheduled for February 7, his birthday, in the Los Angeles area, followed by another gathering in his hometown in Wisconsin.
