Rachel Zoe, the renowned former celebrity stylist, has revealed the motivations behind her decision to step back from a career that brought her widespread fame. In a recent interview with People, the 54-year-old shared that a lack of trust in her assistants played a crucial role in her choice to leave the industry.

“I think after being completely betrayed, for lack of a better term, in various ways, by enough assistants and not being able to trust them with my clients… it just wasn’t worth it anymore,” Zoe explained. She emphasized the importance of trust in her high-pressure role, where she prided herself on exceeding the expectations of elite clients.

Zoe described her deep commitment to her clients, noting that they felt like family to her, stating, “I never wanted to let them down, ever. You have to be able to entrust that in people that represent your work, and if you can’t do that, the system is broken.”

She acknowledged the insanity of attempting to juggle her responsibilities when conflicting schedules arose, particularly during award season. “It was hard to give styling my undivided attention and to get up and jump on a plane every other day,” she said.

Zoe’s career began in the 1990s, leading to influential partnerships with stars like Nicole Richie, Anne Hathaway, and Lindsay Lohan. Since her departure from styling, she has shifted her focus to expanding her business and has made a reality television comeback, notably appearing on the 15th season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Alongside her professional challenges, Zoe has navigated personal changes, including her separation from ex-husband Rodger Berman after 26 years. The couple shares two sons, Skyler and Kaius, and Zoe emphasized that their children remain her top priority. “We are incredibly proud of the loving family we have created and our countless memories together,” she stated in reference to their breakup.
