Producers Guild Awards Nominations: This Season’s Top Contenders and a Surprising Entry for Best Film
The Producers Guild of America (PGA) has unveiled its nominations for the upcoming PGA Awards, highlighting a competitive lineup in both film and television. The list, released this week, features a mix of established titles and unexpected contenders.
Among the nominees for the coveted Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures are Bugonia, F1, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, Sentimental Value, Sinners, Train Dreams, and Weapons. The inclusion of Zach Cregger’s horror film Weapons is particularly noteworthy as it recently gained attention following strong reviews, despite not appearing on prior Best Picture lists. Warner Bros. presents a strong presence with four nominations: One Battle After Another, Sinners, and its distribution of F1.
The PGA Awards nominations come in a dynamic context, especially considering the implications of the potential WBD-Netflix sale. Should that deal finalize, Netflix would boast six nominations in the top ten, including Frankenstein and Train Dreams.
Some notable omissions from the PGA nominations include Wicked: For Good, Jay Kelly, Avatar: Fire and Ash, the latter two having received nominations in previous awards seasons. Also excluded were Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere and all foreign-language films except for Norway’s Sentimental Value, which has also missed nominations in major award categories like SAG and DGA, providing a relief for its distributor, Neon.
The Zanuck Award has historically served as a reliable predictor for the Oscars, aligning with the Best Picture Academy Award winner 17 times out of the past 22 years. Last year’s winner was Sean Baker’s Anora.
In December, the PGA announced its nominees in various categories, including Sports, Children’s, and Documentary awards. The 2026 career honorees will include Amy Pascal, Mara Brock Akil, and Jason Blum.
Winners will be celebrated during the 37th PGA Awards on February 28 at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. Below are the nominees for the 2026 Producers Guild Awards:
