Behind-the-Scenes: A Deleted Scene from This Housemaid Prepares for Sydney Sweeney’s Sequel with Michele Morrone
Key Details on "The Housemaid"
- Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone feature in a newly unveiled deleted scene from The Housemaid, an exclusive release by PEOPLE.
- The actors are set to reprise their roles in the forthcoming sequel, The Housemaid’s Secret.
- The Housemaid, Sweeney’s highest-grossing film to date, is available for home viewing digitally.
In a moment that fans had not previously seen, Sweeney and Morrone share a compelling interaction in a deleted scene from The Housemaid. This exclusive clip was shared on Tuesday, February 3, leading up to their anticipated return as Millie and Enzo in the sequel.
Director Paul Feig explained to PEOPLE in December why this scene did not make it into the final cut of the film, which features additional performances by Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar. "When you’re putting a movie together and you’re doing your test screenings, you find out there’s certain moments when people want to be with one character and people want to be with other characters," he stated. "That was the only scene we had to lose."
Feig mentioned that should there be another film, this deleted scene could potentially find its way into the sequel, dependent on audience demand.
The Housemaid has emerged as a box office success, generating over $300 million globally, marking a significant milestone for both Sweeney and Feig’s careers.
On January 6, Lionsgate announced the commencement of production for The Housemaid’s Secret, an adaptation of Freida McFadden’s 2023 sequel novel, scheduled for 2026.

Before this announcement, Sweeney expressed her enthusiasm for reprising her role. "I would love to," she stated. "I was such a huge fan of the books, so I would be just as happy as everyone else being able to see more Housemaids come to life and getting to explore more of Millie."
In depicting her character, Sweeney characterized Millie as "spicy" and a fighter who stands up for her beliefs. "I love characters like that," she remarked, emphasizing the importance of narratives that embrace themes of female empowerment.
The Housemaid is now available for viewing both digitally and in theaters.
