Ray J’s estranged wife, Princess Love, has made an amendment to a protective order, allowing him to have contact with their two children. This legal change comes in light of Ray J’s recent health concerns, where he revealed that doctors advised him he may have only months to live.
On January 30, a Los Angeles judge approved the amendment, which enables the 45-year-old singer, born William Ray Norwood Jr., to see his children, Melody, 7, and Epik, 6. Previously, a restraining order had prevented him from any contact with Love or the children.
“The restraining order was modified to allow Ray J to have unlimited contact with his children and wife,” Ray J’s attorney confirmed.
During the brief court hearing, Princess Love expressed her concern for their children, stating, “The kids miss their father. They are worried about his health issues. I would like them to see their father. They would not be in any danger.”
This amendment follows a tumultuous period for Ray J, who was arrested in November 2023 after allegedly pulling a gun during a heated argument with Love that was livestreamed online. He was charged with making a criminal threat and later released on a $50,000 bail.
In the livestream, tensions escalated as Ray J accused Love and others of wanting to “drive drunk.” Their exchange highlighted a chaotic scene, with Ray J denying pointing a gun, despite Love’s insistence that he had done so.
Since their marriage in 2016, the couple has faced significant ups and downs, with Princess Love filing for divorce for the fourth time in February 2024.
Recently, Ray J’s health issues came to light following a hospital visit for heart problems and pneumonia. He conveyed troubling news during an Instagram Live session, stating, “2027 is definitely a wrap for me. My health is not okay.” He mentioned that he had been placed on multiple medications and might require a pacemaker or defibrillator.
Despite his grave prognosis, Ray J expressed hope in a subsequent Instagram video, suggesting that if he follows the right path, “everything will be all right.” He also reflected on past substance abuse, admitting, “I f—ed up” and recognized the consequences of his actions on his health. “I thought I was indestructible,” he concluded.
