Prince William and Prince Harry’s Relationship Remains Steady After Three Years of Tension
Ongoing Rift Between Princes William and Harry Remains Unchanged, Expert Reports
In a recent analysis, royal expert Omid Scobie stated that relations between Prince William and Prince Harry have not improved, despite the passage of time. According to Scobie, "nothing has changed" regarding the estranged brothers, who last met in August 2024.
Scobie noted that Harry has made several attempts to connect with his older brother. However, he claims that William is actively avoiding addressing the situation. “The ball has been in William’s court for some time now,” Scobie explained. “And he’s chosen not just to knock it back, but to kick it in the other direction.”
William’s reluctance to reconcile is framed against a backdrop of significant family tensions exacerbated by recent events. As members of the British royal family present a united front following the arrest of ex-Prince Andrew, the relationship between the two princes appears to be at an all-time low.
Scobie further elaborated that Harry’s expectations from their relationship remain unmet, maintaining that “the expectations and wants and wishes of Prince Harry are exactly the same as they were then—and none of them have been met.”
This ongoing discord is compounded by a history of distrust stemming from Harry’s tell-all memoir, Spare, his Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan, and their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey. The rift traces back to 2018 when, according to Scobie, William declined to "roll out the red carpet" for Meghan Markle, then a newcomer to the family.
As this family dynamic continues to unfold, the implications for the royal institution and its public image remain uncertain. Some within royal circles view Harry as a potential threat to the crown due to his willingness to express independent thought outside the confines of royal expectations.
