Prime Video Germany Teams Up with Leonine for Exciting New Movie Partnership
Prime Video Secures Multi-Year Agreement with Leonine Studios in Germany and Austria
Prime Video has announced a multi-year partnership with Leonine Studios, expanding its film offerings in Germany and Austria. This agreement will include notable titles such as The Housemaid, The Drama, and The Hunger Games – Sunrise on the Reaping.
Under the terms of this deal, Prime Video will acquire all films from Leonine’s theatrical slate beginning January 1, 2026. The agreement grants the streaming service six months of exclusive subscription video-on-demand (SVoD) rights within the pay-two window, along with a selection of Leonine’s library titles.
The deal encompasses major Hollywood productions, including The Housemaid—which features Zendaya and Robert Pattinson—and large-scale German projects like Ein Fast Perfekter Antrag. Notable library titles available under this agreement include Asterix and Obelix, The Expendables, and John Wick. Prime Video and Leonine have previously collaborated on projects such as the docuseries Brabus: One Second Wow.
Fred Kogel, CEO of Leonine, expressed enthusiasm about the continued partnership, stating, "We are very pleased to continue our long-standing, successful collaboration with such a great partner as Prime Video in the coming years. The agreement, which includes our current major box office hit The Housemaid as the first film, underscores the outstanding quality of our programming and the confidence Prime Video continues to place in us as a top-tier content provider."
Andreas Hartmann, Head of Licensing and Co-Production at Prime Video Germany, emphasized the importance of this deal, remarking, "With this multi-year agreement, we’re bringing high-quality feature films and premium content exclusively to our customers in Germany and Austria—from international blockbusters to successful German productions. This underscores our commitment to establishing Prime Video as the leading streaming service for premium entertainment."
Leonine, owned by Mediawan, is known for its productions and distribution of various television shows and films, including partnerships with companies like Beetz Brothers and Wiedemann & Berg Film.
Recent trends show that streaming services are increasingly aligning with major local players, highlighted by Prime Video’s collaboration with France Télévisions and Disney+’s partnership with ZDF in Germany.
