Phoebe Dynevor Joins the Cast of the 20th Adaptation of Emily Henry’s Beloved Novel Beach Read
Phoebe Dynevor to Star in Adaptation of ‘Beach Read’
Phoebe Dynevor has been cast in the lead role of Beach Read, the upcoming film adaptation by 20th Century Studios of Emily Henry’s New York Times bestselling novel. Dynevor is best known for her role in the hit series Bridgerton and recently starred in Lionsgate’s dystopian drama Anniversary.
Originally published in 2020, Beach Read follows the story of January Andrews, a successful romance novelist facing grief and writer’s block after her father’s death. While spending the summer in a Michigan beach house set for sale, she rekindles her relationship with Gus Everett, a former college rival turned author. Both authors, struggling creatively, decide to challenge each other by swapping genres, with a strict agreement that no romance will ensue—though, as history shows, plans often change.
Yulin Kuang, who co-wrote Netflix’s People We Meet on Vacation, is directing the feature film based on her own script. Neal H. Moritz will produce through Original Films, with Karina Rahardja set to executive produce. Sarah Shepard and Catherine Hughes are overseeing the project for 20th Century Studios, while the rights to the book were secured by a team led by Clare Reeth.
Dynevor’s upcoming projects also include the Netflix survival thriller Shiver and A24’s Famous, in which she stars opposite Zac Efron. Additionally, she will appear alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in M. Night Shyamalan’s Remain, a romantic drama slated for release on October 23. Her latest venture, Pendulum, a thriller by Mark Heyman, features co-stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Norman Reedus.
Dynevor is represented by WME, Luber Roklin Entertainment, and United Agents in the UK.
