Peter Traugott Takes on New Role as Head of TV at Fifth Season After a Decade at Keshet Studios
Traugott Appointed to Leadership Role at Fifth Season Following Transition
Fifth Season has announced the appointment of Peter Traugott as its new top television executive. This move comes after the departure of former TV President Joe Hipps in September 2024, who has since taken on a role as a producer at A24.
The search for a new executive accelerated following the announcement by co-CEO Chris Rice in late September that he would be leaving his position at the end of 2025. The company aimed to recruit a senior television executive to work alongside CEO Graham Taylor, who has a background in film.
Traugott is expected to maintain his long-standing relationship with Keshet, where he currently serves, as he transitions into his new role at Fifth Season.
Keshet International, the global distribution and production arm of Israel’s Keshet Media Group, brought Traugott on board to lead the U.S.-based Keshet Studios, which was established in 2015. Under his leadership, Keshet Studios has flourished at Universal Television, producing successful series such as La Brea (NBC), The Baker and The Beauty (ABC), The Brave (NBC), and Wisdom of the Crowd (CBS). The studio also produced the award-winning Keshet 12 drama A Body That Works.
In addition to projects under Universal Television, Keshet Studios has recently developed several notable titles outside this partnership, including Echo 3 (Apple TV), Our Boys (HBO), the Snap original Dead Girls Detective Agency, and the Emmy-nominated A Small Light for National Geographic and Disney+.
Prior to his tenure at Keshet, Traugott founded TBD Entertainment, which had an overall deal with Universal Television. He previously spent 15 years at Brillstein Grey Entertainment, rising from Vice President to President of Television during a prolific era that produced acclaimed series such as The Sopranos, NewsRadio, and According to Jim. Earlier in his career, he was the Director of Current Programming for Fox.
Currently, Fifth Season’s television slate includes acclaimed projects such as Severance on Apple TV and Chief of War, starring Jason Momoa. The company also recently launched His & Hers, featuring Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal on Netflix, and has upcoming releases like East of Eden, starring Florence Pugh, and The Good Daughter, featuring Meghann Fahy and Rose Byrne. The TV division boasts talent collaborations with Jessica Chastain’s Freckle Films, Beau Willimon’s Westward Production, Amy Adams’ Bond Group, and Ozark creator Bill Dubuque.
