Peter Faces a Tough Choice in ‘The Night Agent’ Trailer, Plus Meet Jennifer Morrison’s Character Chelsea
Netflix’s The Night Agent Returns for Season 3 with High Stakes
The Night Agent, Netflix’s action-packed thriller, is back for its third season, building on its catchy tagline, “What began with a call became a calling.” This phrase features prominently in the newly released official trailer and key art for the upcoming season.
The trailer, now available for viewing, expands upon the Season 3 logline: Night Agent Peter Sutherland, portrayed by Gabriel Basso, embarks on a critical mission to locate a young Treasury Agent named Jay Batra, played by Suraj Sharma. Batra has fled to Istanbul with top-secret government intelligence following the murder of his superior. This maddening chase draws Peter into an investigation of a dark money network, a perilous endeavor that puts him at odds with hired assassins and a relentless journalist, Isabel, played by Genesis Rodriguez. As they delve into buried secrets and historical grudges, both characters face dangers that could not only destroy their careers but also their lives.
While Peter’s dynamic with Isabel echoes his earlier partnership with Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan) from the first two seasons, the trailer hints at a lighter, buddy-comedy rapport between Peter and Jay during their post-chase banter.
Amidst the tension, Peter grapples with the ramifications of a deal he made in Season 2 with the enigmatic businessman Jacob Monroe, whose influence has cast a long shadow over Peter’s actions. “I made a deal with the devil,” Peter reflects grimly in the trailer after a new terrorist attack is unveiled, expressing doubt about his responsibility in the ongoing violence.
He later confesses to the hitman known as The Father, portrayed by Stephen Moyer, stating, “I’m responsible for all of it.”
The trailer also teases a reunion between Peter and Chelsea, played by Fola Evans-Akingbola. Chelsea, a Secret Service agent who last appeared in Season 1, expresses her trust in Peter, stating, “You are the only person I can trust.”
Additionally, viewers catch brief glimpses of Jennifer Morrison as First Lady Jenny Hagan, wife of the now-President Richard Hagan, enhancing the political stakes of the narrative.
Returning cast members include Basso and Herthum, joined by series newcomers Rodriguez, Moyer, and David Lyons, who plays a retired spy. Other notable promotions to series regulars include Albert Jones, Ward Horton, and Evans-Akingbola. Amanda Warren will reprise her role as Catherine Weaver in multiple episodes.
Created and executive produced by Shawn Ryan, The Night Agent returns to screens on February 19.
