Pauline Potter, Star of ‘My 600-lb. Life’, Has Passed Away Following Injuries from a January Car Accident
Pauline Potter, known for her journey to lose hundreds of pounds on the TLC series My 600-lb Life, passed away on November 27 at the age of 62. Her death follows a serious car accident in January 2025 that resulted in broken ribs and other lasting injuries.
Her son, Dillon Potter, announced the news in a YouTube video, where he did not specify the location of her passing, although she had resided in both Sacramento and Houston.
In the video, Dillon recounted the details of the crash, stating, “We were driving on a dark two-lane highway, and there was a truck and trailer that was stopped in the middle of the road. We did not see it because they didn’t have any lights on.”
He further explained, “The guy claimed that he ran out of gas, but for whatever reason, he still didn’t have his lights on. We hit the trailer. Because he didn’t have lights on, we didn’t see it until it was too late, and we were right up on it.”
Following the accident, Pauline experienced significant health challenges, including digestive issues resulting from what Dillon described as a “blockage in her esophagus.” Additionally, she contracted Covid-19 and was discharged from the hospital last month for hospice care.
In 2011, Pauline was recognized by Guinness World Records as the heaviest living woman at 643 pounds. During her year-long appearance on the TLC series, she lost 149 pounds and weighed 223 pounds as of 2022.
In a January 2022 Instagram post, she expressed pride in her progress: “I haven’t posted on here in a long time, but I’m proud to say that now I’m down to 223 pounds. It feels so great to be able to not be reliant on someone else to do even the littlest things for me.”
Dillon has created a GoFundMe page to cover cremation costs, and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Details regarding survivors were not immediately available.
