Paul Feig Surprised by Taylor Swift’s Approval for ‘The Housemaid’ Song
In the making of his latest project, *The Housemaid*, director Paul Feig envisioned a standout song to accompany the film’s shocking finale.
Feig elaborated on the challenges of incorporating a Taylor Swift song, stating, “Well, that’s the thing; you want to put a Taylor song in your movie, but she and her company have to approve it.” *The Housemaid* is currently showing in theaters.

He continued, “So, we were tempting with it, and we were like, ‘It’s so perfect, but she’s never gonna clear this.’ Then we showed she and her people the movie, and she approved it. So, I guess she likes it. Thank you, Taylor!”
In addition to Swift’s featured track, the film’s soundtrack boasts an impressive array of songs, including Lana Del Rey’s ‘Cinnamon Girl,’ Renée Rapp’s ‘Why Is She Still Here?,’ Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Since U Been Gone,’ and Linda Ronstadt’s ‘Tumbling Dice’ and ‘Blue Bayou.’

Based on Freida McFadden’s 2022 novel, *The Housemaid* features Sydney Sweeney in the lead role of Millie, a housekeeper who uncovers dark secrets while working for the seemingly perfect Winchesters, portrayed by Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar.
Feig revealed that actor Blake Lively, who starred in *Another Simple Favor*, played a pivotal role in the casting of Sklenar, having recommended him after their collaboration on *It Ends with Us*. This connection may have facilitated Lively’s good word to her friend, the 14-time Grammy-winning Swift.
