Oxnard Mother Charged with Murder Following Newborn’s Tragic Death
Oxnard Woman Arrested for Murder of Newborn
OXNARD, Calif. – A 30-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with murder following the discovery of her deceased one-day-old infant, who was found with suspicious injuries.
Emergency responders received a 911 call on February 8 at around 11 a.m. about complications during a birth at a residence on East Vineyard Avenue. Upon arrival, paramedics found the infant unresponsive and pronounced the child dead at the scene. Notably, first responders reported a suspicious injury on the newborn, prompting further investigation.
The mother, identified as Marisol Flores, was also present at the scene and was taken to a local hospital for medical assistance. Initially booked for felony child endangerment, Flores was later charged with murder as the investigation progressed and evidence emerged.
While authorities have not disclosed the specifics of the suspicious injury, they are continuing to gather information. The gender of the infant has not been released, and it remains unclear whether others were in the home during the birth or the emergency call.
Detectives are actively pursuing leads in the ongoing investigation. Flores is currently held at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Jail, awaiting the formal filing of charges by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office and an upcoming arraignment.
