Pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo has announced the imminent release of her upcoming single, "Drop Dead," set to debut on Friday, April 17. The announcement came via an Instagram post on April 7, featuring a striking image of the star blowing a bubblegum bubble while donning a white shirt inscribed with the phrase, “drop dead.”
The single’s announcement follows closely on the heels of Rodrigo’s declaration of her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, revealed on April 2. The album’s whimsical cover art, depicting Rodrigo reclining on a swing against a pale blue sky, was shared alongside its title and release date, June 12.
“I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it,” Rodrigo expressed in her caption, noting that the album is now available for preorder.
You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love serves as the follow-up to Rodrigo’s 2023 album, Guts, which topped the Billboard 200 chart. The lead single from that album, "Vampire," marked her third entry at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, adding to her previous successes with "Drivers License" and "Good 4 U" from her debut album, Sour.
