Olivia Rodrigo has exciting news for her fans. On Thursday, April 2, the singer revealed that her highly anticipated third album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, is set to be released this summer.
Alongside the album’s dreamy cover art—a photograph of Rodrigo reclining on a swing against a pale blue sky—she shared the announcement on Instagram, stating, “my third album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ is out June 12th.”
“I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it,” she added. “available for preorder now!”
On her website, fans can find various vinyl, CD, and cassette options for purchase, including signed copies featuring an image of Rodrigo enjoying a night in a grassy field while wearing a sheer pink dress.
Rodrigo’s last album, Guts, released in 2023, topped the Billboard 200. The album featured the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping single “Vampire” and was a key element of her Guts World Tour, which ran from February through October 2024, with additional dates into the first half of 2025.
Before Guts, Rodrigo’s debut album, Sour, propelled her to superstar status, reaching number one on the Billboard 200 and producing major hits like “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U.”
The former High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star has been teasing her new album for some time, revealing insights in a British Vogue cover story. She explained to the publication that the album is filled with “sad love songs” based on her understanding that her favorite romantic songs often embody a blend of fear and yearning.
“[I thought] that the second I’m in a really great relationship, I’m gonna start feeling good about myself, and this stuff is going to fall into place,” added Rodrigo, who was recently linked to actor Louis Partridge. “But it just doesn’t work like that.”
