Olga Kurylenko Talks About Her Role on the Red Sea Jury and Being a Taskmaster in the MCU: Exploring the Journey of Characters
Olga Kurylenko Discusses Upcoming Projects and Reflections on Acting Career
Actress Olga Kurylenko is set to appear in the upcoming film Turbulence and recently completed work on Season 2 of the Prime Video series The Terminal List, starring Chris Pratt. In addition, Kurylenko has wrapped filming on The Man With The Urn, which may be retitled to The Man With Three Urns. She also recently concluded work on Let God Sort It Out, directed by UK filmmaker Jamie Adams, describing the project as heavily reliant on improvisation. “It’s gonna be a total surprise for all of us… we did so many different versions and so many different shots, we were just exploring,” she noted.
Reflecting on her role as Taskmaster in Black Widow and Thunderbolts, Kurylenko acknowledged the unpredictability of storytelling within the Marvel universe. Her character’s arc was shortened in Thunderbolts due to script changes, a fact she attributes to the challenges posed by numerous characters in the narrative. “The thing is with Marvel, you never know. The superheroes die all the time, and they’re never dead,” she stated. “In one story, you disappear, suddenly you come back… I think you just never die.”
Kurylenko also reminisced about her performance as Camille Montes in Quantum of Solace, where she portrayed a Bolivian intelligence operative. She articulated the challenges of mastering an English-speaking role with a Hispanic accent, suggesting that her unique background set her apart during auditions. She emphasized the actor’s craft, stating, “The whole point of being an actor is portraying someone who you’re not.” She recalled how, for her role as a Turkish woman in The Water Diviner, she took Turkish language classes to enhance her performance.
Additionally, Kurylenko shared her insights from serving on the jury at the Red Sea International Film Festival. She expressed deep appreciation for the collaborative effort involved in filmmaking. “I know how much work, how much time, how much craft and energy goes into making a movie; it’s such a complex machine,” she remarked. Ultimately, she seeks a deep connection with the story when selecting her projects.
