NoMark: The Everyday Hero Protecting Minneapolis Streets from Trouble
True crime aficionados and vigilante enthusiasts alike are finding common ground in the rise of “real-life superheroes,” individuals who take to the streets to combat crime and maintain order. In Minneapolis, one such figure is making headlines: a crime-fighting superhero known as NoMark.
The Minnesota Star Tribune recently followed NoMark as he patrolled the streets of Minneapolis, clad in a striking black uniform. Concealing his identity behind a black mask featuring a haunting skeleton grin, NoMark’s presence has sparked considerable interest. During a recent outing, he was recognized by a fan, Anton Tran, who exclaimed, “It’s NoMark!” and celebrated as if he had just won the lottery. This interaction led to NoMark being surrounded by admirers eager to take selfies.
NoMark boasts over 500,000 followers on social media, where he shares videos detailing his encounters as a vigilante. His efforts range from recovering stolen bicycles to diffusing physical fights, and even assisting intoxicated individuals to ensure they return home safely. He gained notoriety in the fall of 2025 after confronting an individual dubbed the “Minnesota Pisser,” who was filmed urinating on University of Minnesota landmarks.
His videos have garnered millions of views, highlighting the ongoing debate surrounding the role of unauthorized crime fighters. While law enforcement typically discourages such vigilantism, it has not deterred individuals like NoMark from taking action into their own hands.
Across the nation, similar vigilantes have emerged. In New York, for example, the Brooklyn Devil operates as a self-identified “violence interrupter,” donning a tactical mask and riding an electric skateboard during his nightly patrols. As he explained to the New York Post in 2024, “I just wanted to go out and do something good in the world.”
The activities of figures like NoMark and the Brooklyn Devil raise questions about community safety, the effectiveness of traditional law enforcement, and the implications of taking justice into one’s own hands.
