Noah Schnapp Shares Insight on How the ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Poster Almost Gave Away a Major Twist
Spoilers Ahead: Insights from the First Four Episodes of Stranger Things Season 5
As the beloved series Stranger Things approaches its conclusion, Noah Schnapp, who portrays Will Byers, recently revealed a significant twist hinted at in the Season 5 marketing materials.
Schnapp indicated that the promotional poster for the fifth and final season nearly gave away a major cliffhanger involving his character. The placement of Will above Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown, suggests his own hidden telekinetic abilities.
“The poster is meant to convey the vibe of the season and reflect where each character stands in this part of our story,” Schnapp stated. “You can see a strength in him there. Everything is very intentional about what we do.”
In the climactic moments of Stranger Things Season 5 Vol. 1, a wave of despair washes over as Demogorgons rampage through a military base, complicating Will and his friends’ escape, while Eleven remains occupied in the Upside Down. In a dramatic turn, the Demogorgons freeze in mid-air, revealing that Will is exerting telekinetic control over them.
Schnapp elaborated on Will’s character, stating, “I think people mistake fear for weakness. Will has experienced a lot of fear over the years, but that doesn’t mean he’s weak. He’s pushed through and emerged stronger, always coming back and never crumbling.”
Co-creator Matt Duffer emphasized the pivotal role of Will in this season. “When we started discussing Season 5, we focused on Will. He was somewhat sidelined in Season 4, but he’s central to the story. This season aimed to go full circle and revisit his journey.”
Duffer further explained, “This narrative is about Will discovering who he is and coming to terms with that. We wanted to tie this personal journey into the supernatural elements, showing that embracing his true self is key to unlocking his full potential.”
With the initial four episodes of Stranger Things Season 5 currently available for streaming on Netflix, viewers can anticipate the next three episodes releasing on Christmas, culminating in the series finale on New Year’s Eve.
